Shubman Gill’s Availability for Second ENG vs IND ODI: Latest Major Update

While it was an easy win for India, Shubman Gill suffered an injury scare in the opening game. As he was batting at 80 runs off 75 deliveries in the 26th over in the 2nd innings, he suffered an issue with his leg, which looked like a cramp or hamstring injury. He left the field immediately and did not resume his batting later.

Gill was seen in pain and had a chat with the team physio, who advised him to not continue with his batting. After he left the field, Washington Sundar came out to bat. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) did not share any updates on Gill’s injury after the match. However, according to reports, he is expected to play in tomorrow’s clash.

According to journalist Rohit Juglan of Revsportz, Gill is fit to feature in the 2nd ODI against England. Hence, it will be a big boost for the side as they will have the services of their captain.

Gill played a crucial role in the team’s victory at Edgbaston. After visitors lost key batters Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli cheaply inside 10 overs, Gill etched a stand of 101 runs with Shreyas Iyer to set the platform for India’s easy victory within 46 overs.

Meanwhile, pacer Gurnoor Brar suffered issues with his calf during the match. Just ahead of the 48th over, he felt pain in his right calf during his run-up and left the field. He could only bowl nine overs in the match and got two wickets. It remains to be seen if he will play in the second game or be rested to safeguard him from any chances of severe injury.
