Born in Bijbehara, Jammu and Kashmir, Parvez Rasool became the first cricketer from the region to represent India in international cricket. His consistent performances in domestic cricket and for India A earned him an ODI call-up in 2014.

Rasool made his ODI debut against Bangladesh in Mirpur in June 2014, where he claimed 2/60. However, he was subsequently left out of the national team. He later earned a place in India’s T20I squad and made his debut against England in 2017. In what became his only T20I appearance, he took 1/32.

Rasool continued playing domestic cricket for several years before announcing his retirement from all forms of cricket in October 2025, bringing an end to a notable career.

Auqib Nabi Dar is the latest cricketer from Jammu and Kashmir to earn an India call-up. The 29-year-old fast bowler has been rewarded for his consistent performances in domestic cricket and will join India’s squad for the upcoming Test series in Sri Lanka.

Nabi has been one of the leading wicket-takers in the Ranji Trophy and played a key role in Jammu and Kashmir’s historic first Ranji Trophy title, finishing with 60 wickets. His impressive form also earned him a place in the India A squad for two unofficial Tests against Sri Lanka A. Nabi has now received his maiden senior India call-up as a replacement for the injured Jasprit Bumrah, marking a major milestone in his career and another proud moment for J&K cricket.
