Jasprit Bumrah has reportedly been ruled out of India’s upcoming Test series against Sri Lanka due to a left knee injury. The premier fast bowler was undergoing rehabilitation at the BCCI Centre of Excellence but has not recovered fully in time for the two-match series. Reports suggest that the team management does not want to risk rushing him back, prioritising his long-term fitness. Bumrah’s absence is a major setback for India, as he remains one of the most important figures in their bowling attack across formats. The Indian team will now look towards other pace options, including Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna, to handle the responsibility during the Sri Lanka tour.

Jasprit Bumrah got injured in the second ODI against England. He felt some discomfort in his left knee and then was ruled out of the third ODI of the series. But at that time, it was reported that his injury wasn’t serious and he would be fit for the Sri Lanka series.
However, things have now taken a drastic turn as Bumrah has been ruled out of the SL vs IND Test series. The development was confirmed by the Times of India on Sunday, August 2.

Jasprit Bumrah is set to miss India’s upcoming Test series against Sri Lanka as the pacer continues to recover from discomfort in his left knee. After an initial assessment at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE), the board decided that rushing him back into competitive cricket would not be the right approach.
The BCCI wants Bumrah to achieve complete fitness before returning, especially with several major assignments scheduled ahead. A source revealed that the board does not want to repeat past mistakes where players were brought back too quickly and suffered further setbacks.
India have a busy cricket calendar ahead, including the Asian Games, the tour of New Zealand and the Border-Gavaskar Trophy next year. The BCCI is expected to officially confirm Bumrah’s absence and announce his replacement soon. Fast bowler Auqib Nabi, who impressed in the Ranji Trophy, is reportedly one of the contenders.
